Air Cargo Security Training (U.S.)

Important: These courses are available for use by U.S. Indirect Air Carrier (air forwarder) direct employees, agents and sub-contractors ("authorized representatives"). See our IAC/AR services page for more information about required set-up and authorization forms.   • (AS-1) IAC Security Training—Station Manager, Supervisor, Full-Charge Customer Service & Documentation Staff (C9, 2023) (LCB-Continuing Ed) [Enroll now]

    This course fulfills the training requirements specified in the IACSSP, through Change 9, plus amendments, alternate procedures thereto, and implementing instructions relevant to the topics addressed in this training.

    This is full-scope training, including screened cargo handling and ground transfer, for IAC direct employees engaged in customer service, documentation and supervision/management at the station level. It encourages employees to seek clarification on any issues of concern with one's supervisor or IAC Security Coordinator.

    This course may be used for both initial and annual refresher training. When used for refresher training, students, having previously completed AS-1, should be able to complete the course in approximately half the time for initial training, and the GISTnet course fee is automatically discounted 50%.

  • (AS-2) IAC Security Training—Customer Service & Documentation Staff Under Continuous Supervision (C9, 2023) (LCB-Continuing Ed) [Enroll now]

    This course meets the air cargo security training requirements specified in the IACSSP, through Change 9, for IAC direct employees engaged in customer service, documentation and other clerical (desk-level) tasks who are under continuous direct supervision by a higher trained ("full charge") person.

    This training is not sufficient for IAC employees working without immediate supervision and/or who are primarily engaged in:

    • Physically accepting and/or tendering of air cargo, including screened cargo, within an IAC terminal
    • Picking-up, transporting and delivering air cargo (e.g., truck drivers and dispatchers)

    This training refers to applicable provisions within the IACSSP, amendments and alternate procedures thereto, that are or may be relevant to each trainee's individual security function. Availability of these source documents is not required for successful completion of this training. This training encourages employees to seek clarification on any issues of concern with one's supervisor or IAC Security Coordinator.

    This course may be used for both initial and annual refresher training. When used for refresher training, students, having previously completed AS-2, should be able to complete the course in approximately half the time needed for initial training, and the GISTnet course fee will be automatically discounted 50%.

  • (AS-3) IAC Security Training—Warehouse/Terminal Staff (C9, 2023) (LCB-Continuing Ed) [Enroll now]

    This course meets the air cargo security training requirements specified in the IACSSP, through Change 9, for IAC employees and AR personnel performing one or more of the following responsibilities under general supervision by a higher-trained person at IAC or AR facilities:

    • Accepting air cargo: including screened cargo for which verification of the Chain of Custody Process is required
    • Storing, picking and accounting for cargo: taking into consideration its status (known shipper vs. unknown shipper cargo, screened cargo vs. unscreened cargo)
    • Staging, consolidating and containerizing cargo: including picking up cargo from storage to configure a consolidation, loading the cargo into a ULD container or pallet and, for screened cargo, affixing required TET
    • Tendering cargo: including selecting, staging and turning over cargo to employee and AR truck drivers for delivery to airlines, other IACs and CCSFs, including completion of IAC screened cargo certification document

    This training is not sufficient for IAC employees working unsupervised and/or primarily engaged in customer service, shipment routing, shipment documentation, or organizing cargo consolidations. This training refers to applicable provisions within the IACSSP, amendments and alternate procedures thereto, relevant to each trainee's individual security function. Availability of these source documents is not required for successful completion of this training. This training encourages employees to seek clarification on any issues of concern with one's supervisor or IAC Security Coordinator.

    This course may be used for both initial and annual refresher training. When used for refresher training, students, having previously completed AS-3, should be able to complete the course in approximately half the time for initial training, and the GISTnet course fee is automatically discounted 50%.

  • (AS-4) IAC Security Training—Personnel with No Operations Responsibility (C9, 2023) [Enroll now]

    This course meets the air cargo security training requirements specified in the IACSSP for IAC, CCFS or AR personnel whose work situation requires unescorted access to outbound air cargo, but who otherwise need no understanding of IAC, CCSF or AR operational tasks and work flow. Examples of job assignments for which this training is appropriate include:

    • Temporary workers and casual labor whose work will be closely directed by higher trained IAC, CCFS or AR personnel
    • Security personnel
    • Janitorial personnel
    • Workers assigned to other departments within an IAC facility who need to traverse air cargo handling and storage areas to access supplies, equipment, storage room, lunchroom, rest rooms, etc.

    This training is not adequate for personnel performing air cargo operations tasks (e.g., customer service, routing, documentation, cargo acceptance and/or transfer, ground transportation). Students are encouraged to seek clarification on any issues of concern with one's supervisor.

    This course is current as of IACSSP Change 9, 2023, and may be used for both initial and annual refresher training. When used for refresher training, students, having previously completed AS-4, should be able to complete the course in approximately half the time for initial training, and the GISTnet course fee is automatically discounted 50%.

  • (AS-4-S) Entrenamiento de Seguridad del IAC—Personal Sin Responsabilidades de Operaciones

    Este curso llena los requisitos de entrenamiento de seguridad de la carga aérea específicados en el IACSSP del IAC, CCSF o personal del AR que su situación de trabajo requiere acceso sin escolta a carga aérea de salida, pero que de otra manera no necesita conocimiento operacional concerniente a tareas operacionales o flujo de trabajo del IAC, CCSF o AR. Ejemplos de trabajos para que este entrenamiento es apropiado incluyen:

    • Trabajadores temporales y de trabajo casual que su trabajo será dirigido muy de cerca por personal entrenado del IAC, CCSF o AR.
    • Personal de Seguridad
    • Personal de Limpieza
    • Trabajadores asignados a otros departamentos dentro del IAC que necesiten atravesar áreas donde se maneja o almacena carga aérea en orden de tener acceso a suministros, equipo, cuarto de almacén, baños, etc.

    Este entrenamiento no es adecuado para personal desempeñando tareas de operaciones de carga aérea (p.ej., servicio al cliente, haciendo rutas, documentando, aceptando o transfiriendo carga, y/o Transportando por tierra). Estudiantes son animados a buscar clarificación de cualquiera de los temas de preocupación con su supervisor.

    Cuando es utilizado como curso de actualización, los estudiantes, como ya completaron AS-4 previamente, deben de ser capaces de completar el curso en aproximadamente la mitad del tiempo que para entrenamiento inicial, y el costo del curso de GISTnet es automáticamente descontado un 50%.

  • (AS-5) IAC Security Training—IAC Security Coordinators and Alternates (C9, 2023) (LCB-Continuing Ed) [Enroll now]

    This course meets the air cargo security training requirements specified in the IACSSP for IAC Security Coordinators and alternate security coordinators. It is full-scope, including everything in the GISTnet AS-1 course plus additional topics of particular concern to IACSCs.

    This training refers to applicable provisions within the IACSSP, amendments and alternate procedures thereto, and implementing instructions as are or may be relevant to each student's individual responsibilities as IACSC or alternate. These source documents should be available to people taking this training for reference during and after this training.

    This course may be used for both initial and annual refresher training. When used for refresher training, students, having previously completed AS-5, or AS-1+AS-6, should be able to complete the course in approximately half the time needed for initial training, and the GISTnet course fee is automatically discounted 50%.

  • (AS-6) IAC Security Training—IAC Security Coordinator Add-On (C9, 2023) [Enroll now]

    This course consists of focused coverage of IAC Security Coordinator responsibilities, and is designed as add-on training for personnel newly appointed as IACSC or alternate IACSC who have already completed the GISTnet course titled (AS-1) IAC Security Training—Station Manager, Supervisor, Full-Charge Customer Service & Documentation Staff. This is not intended as "stand-alone" IACSC or alternate IACSC training. When combined with course AS-1, this course meets the air cargo security training requirements specified in the IACSSP for IAC Security Coordinators and alternate security coordinators.

    This training refers to applicable provisions within the IACSSP, amendments and alternate procedures thereto, and implementing instructions that are or may be relevant to each trainee's security function. These source documents should be available to people taking this training in their workplace for reference.

  • (AS-7) IAC Security Training—Drivers, Dispatchers & Supervisors (C9, 2023) [Enroll now]

    This course meets the air cargo security training requirements specified in the IACSSP for IAC employees and AR personnel performing one or more of the following responsibilities under general supervision by a higher-trained person at IAC or AR facilities:

    • Accepting air cargo: including screened cargo for which verification of the Chain of Custody Process is required

  • (AS-7-S) Entrenamiento de Seguridad del IAC—Conductores, Despachadores y Supervisores

    Este curso cumple con los requisitos de entrenamiento en seguridad de carga aérea especificados en el IACSSP para empleados de IAC y personal de AR que realicen una o más de las siguientes responsabilidades bajo la supervisión general de una persona más capacitada en Instalaciones de IAC o AR:

    • Aceptando carga aérea: incluyendo la carga revisada ("screened") para la cual se requiere la verificación del Proceso de Cadena de Custodia.
    • Almacenamiento, la recolección y contabilización de la carga: teniendo en cuenta su estatus (embarcador conocido vs. embarcador desconocido, carga revisada vs. carga no revisada)
    • La organización de la carga, la consolidación y poner en contenedores: incluyendo la recogida de la carga del almacén para configurar una consolidación, estibar la carga dentro de un contenedor ULD o pallet y, para carga revisada, fijar la requerida TET.
    • Ofrecer carga: incluyendo seleccionar, organizar y entregar la carga al empleado y conductores del AR para su entrega a aerolíneas, otros IACs y CCSFs, incluyendo el completar el documento de certificación de carga revisada del IAC

    Este entrenamiento no es suficiente para empleados del IAC trabajando sin supervisión y/o principalmente dedicados al servicio al cliente, enrutamiento del envío, la documentación del envío u organizaciones de consolidaciones de carga. Este entrenamiento se refiere a las disposiciones aplicables en el IACSSP, enmiendas y procedimientos alternos del mismo, y a la aplicación de las instrucciones pertinentes a la función de seguridad de cada participante. No se requiere la disponibilidad de este documento para el éxito de este entrenamiento. Este entrenamiento alienta a los empleados a buscar aclaraciones sobre cualquier tema con su supervisor o Coordinador de Seguridad del IAC.

    Este curso puede ser utilizado tanto como entrenamiento inicial o de actualización.   • (AS-10) IAC CCSF Operational Training (CCSSSP, C11, 2022) [Enroll now]

    This training is for use with all personnel with CCSF cargo security responsibilities, including Principal and Facility Security Coordinators and designated alternates, Screeners and Screener Supervisors, and all other employees and authorized representatives.

    This training is based on the TSA-issued CCSSSP, Change 11.

    This training, however, is not "stand alone. Additional training covering general air cargo security requirements is required. The presumption is that IAC employees and authorized representatives (ARs) will have already received this training based on their IAC responsibilities and CCSF Employee and AR General Air Cargo Security Requirements.
